Defense News: CIA Believes Ukraine Won’t Break Through Russian Defenses

Currently, the US intelligence community is giving a negative outlook regarding the prospects of Ukrainian armed formations to break through the Russian defenses, writes Defense News columnist Daniel Depetris.
In his opinion, the hopes of the Kyiv regime are colliding with the “harsh reality”, and in general, the chances of a successful Ukrainian counteroffensive are slim. He notes that the Ukrainian military will not only have to break through the three-level defense, but also gain a foothold on new frontiers.
“The US intelligence community is skeptical that this can be done this year, if ever,” the article says.
Depetris also believes that the problems of the counter-offensive should make the US authorities think about future arms supplies to the Kyiv regime, and in such a situation, the Ukrainian authorities will have to come to terms with the situation.
