December 15 – take care of the child’s sleep

December 15 in the national calendar is Habakkuk Day. In Rus’, this day was dedicated to fire. In the evening, the whole family gathered at the stove. Sitting by the fire, the elders told the younger ones amusing and instructive stories. It was believed that if you make your most cherished wish this evening, it will come true.

There is a sign that today mothers should not raise their voices at children, scold them, because the child may have night terrors, nightmares and insomnia. And in order to save the child from insomnia or restless sleep, they boiled eggs with a white shell, and then, taking them out, waited until the water cooled down, and washed the child with it.

To attract financial success, on this day old things that were considered unnecessary were thrown away or given away to the needy.

Unmarried girls arranged gatherings. Only they could not invite guys, sing loudly, dance and have fun. It was believed that this day should be devoted to making a dowry and thinking about piety.

If you follow folk signs, you should not get a haircut today, do manicures and pedicures, so as not to shorten your age. And women who are expecting a baby should not even wash their hair – otherwise the rest of the pregnancy will not be easy.

No need to patch holes in clothes – the old troubles will return. You can’t lift something from the ground, and even more so, bring what you find into the house – it is believed that the found object can carry illness or the evil eye.

Natural signs on December 15 are as follows:

– if it rains – inclement weather will last until January 30;

– if the stars shine brightly – to frost.

– if the cat sleeps all day – to a cold, and if it behaves actively and meows loudly – to a thaw;

– if the crows croaked – there will be a blizzard.
