Deaths due to surrogate alcohol registered in the Nizhny Novgorod region

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, cases of surrogate alcohol poisoning have been confirmed, and there are deaths. This was announced on Monday, June 5, by the deputy head of the region, David Melik-Huseinov.
As the politician wrote in his Telegram channel, doctors continue to fight for the lives of several people who are in intensive care units.
Melik-Huseinov called for refraining from taking any alcoholic beverages with an unknown composition or multi-component cocktails, stressing that draft alcohol and cider are especially dangerous. If alarming symptoms appear, you should immediately seek medical help, the deputy governor emphasized. He also asked citizens to report surrogate alcohol to the police.
The authorities of the Ulyanovsk region, in turn, reported an increase in the number of victims of poisoning with surrogate cider. 40 people have already applied for medical help, 16 of them have died.
On the fact of poisoning and death of people who used the drink “Mr. Cider”, a criminal case was initiated. As part of the investigation, a suspect was detained – an individual entrepreneur from the Samara region, who supplied poisonous alcohol to retail outlets.
Sources said that the detainee was Huseynov Anar Afat oglu. The filing cabinet of the Arbitration Court of the Samara Region contains information that an audit in the summer of 2022 revealed violations in his activities – a man was selling alcohol without documents. Since he committed the offense for the first time and it was a small amount of goods, instead of a fine he was given a warning. The alcohol was confiscated and disposed of.
