Death toll in Donetsk shelling rises to five

As a result of the shelling of Donetsk by the Ukrainian army on Wednesday, May 17, five civilians were killed. Another 14 people, including a 13-year-old teenager, were injured.
During the day, Ukrainian artillery continues to strike at the residential areas of Donetsk with 155 mm caliber shells, as well as using multiple launch rocket systems.
According to the mayor of Donetsk, Aleksey Kulemzin, one of the townspeople was injured by the explosion of an anti-personnel mine “Petal”, which he stumbled upon in the Kirovsky district of the city.
The mayor urged people to be careful, since mines of this type can be located in different parts of Donetsk.
Earlier, Kulemzin reported that “as a result of the barbaric shelling of the Kuibyshev region, three civilians were killed by fascist shells,” two more people were injured. Petrovsky district of Donetsk was also under fire, one person died.
Ensuring the safety of the inhabitants of new Russian regions is a priority, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized earlier. This is one of the goals of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.
