Artem Mikoyan worked with famous Hollywood filmmakers
Many famous filmmakers, including those from abroad, sent condolences to the master of Russian music Stas Namin in connection with the tragic death of his son. This is not just a tribute: as it turned out, Artem Mikoyan was well known in the film world.
As MK learned, Artem graduated from the Moscow Golden Section school, was actively involved in painting, and while still a teenager participated in major exhibitions in Russia and abroad. In particular, he became the youngest artist included in the “Russian Abstraction” catalogue, published by the Russian State Museum.
After school, Artyom Mikoyan graduated from the Faculty of Cinematography at New York University, and completed an internship at the Trebeco company with Robert De Niro. He made several documentaries with his father, such as “Conversation with Ernst Neizvestny”, “Real Cuba” and “Ancient Temples of Armenia”. He participated in the creation of the cult American film “Free to Rock”, after which he returned to Moscow, where he continued his professional activities.
Condolences for Artyom’s death were sent by Robert De Niro, documentary film director, and four-time Emmy Award winner Jim Brown. “He was a joy and such a good student. I thought he was a prince was so kind and smart. Everyone at NYU liked him and knew he was special,” reads the letter of condolences from Brown.
Artem Mikoyan and his grandmother were brutally murdered in a country house last Wednesday.
Roman Novikov, the son from the first marriage of Stas Namin’s ex-wife, Galina, was detained for the crime.
