In 2022, DDoS attacks using botnets created inside Russia have become one of the most popular hacker scenarios. Alexander Lyamin, the founder of Qrator Labs, told Vedomosti about this. According to him, the attackers chose servers located in Russia to carry out attacks, which allowed them to bypass the blocking of foreign traffic.
The increase in the number of attacks using “Russian” botnets was confirmed by Vadim Shelest, leading expert of the MTS security analysis department, Oleg Kupreev, leading expert of the Kaspersky Lab’s botnet monitoring group, and Luka Safonov, technical director of Synclit JSC. Most of the attacks using “Russian” botnets were carried out on subjects of critical information infrastructure, Alexey Pavlov, director of business development at the Solar JSOC Cyber Attack Center at RTK-Solar, specified.
