Russian ice dancers Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin will not take part in the Challenge Cup in the USA. They will also not be able to come to Russia from the United States for the test skates of the national team.

“Due to the fact that we were unable to issue documents to Gleb, allowing him to legally leave the country, we, unfortunately, will not be able to come to the test skates of the national team. And yes, we are not participating in the Challenge Cup,” Davis wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

Media sources previously reported that Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin were included in the application for the Challenge Cup. If they were able to take part in the competition, they would become the first Russian figure skaters who, since the start of the military operation, have competed at an international tournament.

Diana Davis was born in the USA, she is the daughter of Russian figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze.
