The plans of Russian figure skaters Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin to perform at the Challenge Cup tournament in the United States were announced on the social network by American journalist David Leese.
He became aware that the skaters must take part in the competition, since they do not have a direct ticket to the US Championships.
The Challenge Cup is the last opportunity for ice dancing couples to qualify for the national championship.
Earlier it was reported that Davis and Smolkin will move to the US team. However, the mother of Diana Davis, the honored coach of Russia in figure skating Eteri Tutberidze, denied this information.
Davis and Smolkin made their senior Russian national team debut last season. At the European Championships, they took 8th place, at the Beijing Olympics – 14th. Also on their account is the silver of the championship of the Russian Federation and the bronze of the championship of Russia among juniors.
