Danish Orsted to invest €64 billion in renewable energy between 2023 and 2030

On Wednesday, June 7, the Danish energy company Orsted, specializing in renewable energy sources (RES), reportedthat its investment in new capacity in 2023-2030 will be DKK 475 billion (€64 billion). The company estimates that these investments will allow it to commission new facilities with a total capacity of 50 GW. Orsted stressed that the new capital investment will come from the company’s own funds.
The announcement comes ahead of Orsted’s management meeting with investors and analysts today, where the company will talk about its achievements and plans for the coming years. It is known, in particular, that it raised the forecast for the target average return on capital in 2020–2027 from the previous 11–12% to 15%.
Currently Orsted is the world’s largest operator of offshore wind farms. The total amount of generated power at all RES stations of the company is about 15.5 GW. Objects with a total capacity of 4.9 GW are under construction, contracts have been received for the construction of renewable energy stations for another 10.6 GW.
In 2022, the share of electricity generated by solar and wind stations reached a maximum of 12% of global production, Kommersant wrote about this in a publication “Sun and wind set records”.
