Daniel Noboa wins Ecuador’s presidential election

The candidate from the National Democratic Action alliance, Daniel Noboa, won the presidential elections in Ecuador. About it it says on the website of the National Electoral Council of Ecuador.

Noboa was born into the family of businessman Alvaro Noboa, who ran for president five times.

On August 9, Ecuadorian presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio was killed after an election rally in the capital of the Republic of Quito, which took place at the Coliseo TW Anderson. An unknown person shot the politician three times in the head. He was taken to hospital without signs of life, where he was pronounced dead. As a result of the incident, nine more people were injured, and the attacker died. Several weeks earlier, Villavicencio had reported threats against him.

In May, then-current head of state Guillermo Lasso dissolved the national assembly and announced elections. Early presidential and parliamentary elections in Ecuador were held on August 20, the second round of voting took place on October 15. The new president will take office in late November – early December.
