Damn Movie Dozen: February to March

An interesting figure: from the last ten days of February until March 16, a total of 13 films made with state support will be released (and have already been released) in Russia. Of these, the Ministry of Culture allocated money for eight tapes and the Cinema Fund for five. What kind of movie is this and what tapes should you pay attention to?

The first on the list, of course, is the action-packed large-scale drama about the Nuremberg Trials, which will hit the theaters on March 2. The closed premiere of “Nuremberg” in Moscow has already taken place. It is noteworthy that the tape was filmed by the talented Nikolai Lebedev, the same one who previously staged Legend 17, Crew with Mashkov and participated with Yuri Moroz in the filming of The Apostle (although his name is not in the credits). The music was written by Eduard Artemiev, and this was his last work.

It is noteworthy that before Lebedev, in world cinema, the topic of the “court of peoples” over the former leaders of the Third Reich was raised on such a large scale only by Stanley Kramer in 1961. That legendary black and white film starred Spencer Tracy and Marlene Dietrich.

But to be completely accurate, Kramer’s film “The Nuremberg Trials” told about one of the “small” Nuremberg Trials, that is, about the trial of the judges.

But in Lebedev’s film “Nuremberg” we are already talking about the main trial – the trial of the main war criminals. The picture tells about the work of the International Military Tribunal. A huge number of people from all over the world come to the “Trial of the Century”: the city is overflowing with its participants and journalists. As part of the Soviet delegation, Captain Volgin, who went through the war, arrives in Nuremberg, who will have to meet his love in these dramatic days and experience very strong feelings.

By the way, the script is based on the novel by the lawyer and historian Alexander Zvyagintsev “Forever and ever”, who devoted more than 40 years to studying the Nuremberg trials.

Our Evgeny Mironov, Igor Petrenko, Sergey Bezrukov, as well as an international constellation of actors from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Austria, Denmark and other countries were filmed in the new Nuremberg.

As a film for family viewing, we can recommend the film “The Snow Queen: Defrosting” from Sergei Selyanov, whose name immediately implies a certain quality mark. Tape – for a couple of days – at the box office. Its directors and screenwriters were Andrey Korenkov and Alexei Tsitsylin, who previously filmed the Snow Queen franchise. The new picture brings new characters to the arena: the mischievous sorceress Ayla, the daughter of the Snow Queen, inadvertently releases the evil Ice Spirits. And so that eternal winter does not take over the world, Ayla will have to go in search of Kai and Gerda, gather a team of friends and learn how to use magic. The film is kind – about friendship that can melt the ice.

Maxim Malinin’s comedy “Dads Against Moms” will logically appear at the box office on February 23. That is, tomorrow, when we will congratulate our beloved defenders of the Fatherland. Artyom Tkachenko, Vladimir Steklov, Roman Postovalov, Anna Churina, Ela Sanko will tell a funny screen story about two families living in the same stairwell. In the spirit of the performance of the Theater of Satire, in which the wonderful performance “The Convent” was once staged, dads will boycott moms, and moms will respond in kind. Naturally, small everyday problems will serve as the reason for the quarrel; among mutual claims, computer games, and iron drill, and female fatigue will emerge. The situation will be aggravated by the fact that the children, forced to maneuver between the two opposing camps, will call for help “heavy artillery” – grandfather. The general of the tank troops in the past, the grandfather will lead the “rescue” operation in such a way that the viewer will find himself in the epicenter of numerous comical situations.

“Ideal Brother” directed by Ratmir Lutfullin tells about a successful and ambitious businessman. Having fallen in love with a modest girl-photographer, Timur unexpectedly fails. Wanting to take possession of the heart of his passion, he embarks on an adventurous step. Namely, he reincarnates into a completely different person and appears to Lisa … his own brother, and besides, he is also a musician.

Adventure road movie “Running” will be released on the screens on March 8. A beautiful and romantic film. In the process of filming about the bicycle journey of the heroine Anya, which runs from Moscow to Magadan, the group of director Anton Maslov reached Lake Baikal. Prior to this, the group filmed in Moscow, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Bashkiria and Altai. Together with her dachshund, the heroine Anya will travel more than 10 thousand km, and this path will run along the most beautiful roads of our country. The girl seeks to find herself and gain true freedom. According to director Anton Maslov, “road movies today are one of the most complex and uncontrollable genres of cinema, depending on the time of day, sudden precipitation, the vagaries of the human body, when in an instant everything can go wrong, but sometimes the movie even wins.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2023, 7 films created with state support have already been released in Russian distribution, and three dozen more are planned during the year. Among them are such big releases as the first feature film filmed in space “Challenge” and the continuation of the second (after “Cheburashka”) highest-grossing Russian film “Kholop-2”.
