Dairy kitchens may be revived in Russia

Another measure to support families with children may appear in Russia in the form of a dairy kitchen system. It existed throughout the country during Soviet times, but now there is no such federal system.
As Anna Kuznetsova, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma and former children’s ombudsman, said on Monday, April 1, parliamentarians decided to contact the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation on this issue.
Kuznetsova clarified that deputies will ask the department to revive the dairy kitchen system and develop at the federal level a unified standard for providing free food to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under three years of age.
Currently, in the Russian Federation, the procedure and standards for the provision of free dairy food are established by regional authorities – each region decides this issue independently. For example, in Kursk in 2023, food will be served in a dairy kitchen 3870 children received.
You can find out whether there is a dairy kitchen in a particular locality and how to get food there from a pediatrician (if we are talking about food for children), an obstetrician-gynecologist (for pregnant women) or from social security authorities.
