Swiss authorities are planning to return millions of dollars of previously frozen funds to a number of Russians involved in money laundering cases. The Daily Beast writes about this, citing court documents in this case.
In Switzerland, as noted, dismissed the appeal for the return of frozen funds in a case related to the so-called Magnitsky case.
A court document obtained by the publication reads: “It would be impossible to establish the existence of a criminal organization … involved in the operations.”
Sanctions were also previously imposed against those to whom the finances would be returned.
In the summer of 2021, the Swiss General Directorate stopped investigating the so-called Magnitsky case. According to lawyers, the arguments about “the connection of the country with the tax scam in the Russian Federation” have not been substantiated.
