Dagestan celebrates: two gold medals in weightlifting

The first day of the Russian Weightlifting Championship ended in Orenburg, and for Dagestan it became golden. The Dagestan team won two gold medals, which was a real gift for the republic.
The Russian Championship is held among boys aged 13 to 17 years. It was in this age category that Dagestan athletes showed outstanding results. Sharaputdin Iziev, a 15-year-old athlete, won one of the gold medals. The student of coach Rasul Temirbekov gained 157 kg in the double event, showing a result of 70 kg in the snatch and 87 kg in the clean and jerk.
Another hero of the day was 17-year-old Islam Abakarov. Mansur Elmurzaev’s student gained a total of 180 kg. In the snatch he showed a result of 85 kg, setting a new Russian record, and in the clean and jerk – 95 kg. This is already the second gold medal for this Dagestan weightlifter at the national championships.
The Dagestan team continues to fight at the Russian Championship, and we expect new victories and records from them.
