Czech Defense Minister urged to find a mediator for negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv

The fighting in Ukraine must be stopped, it is important to find a mediator for negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, Defense Minister Yana Chernokhova said during her speech on Czech TV.
Head of the Czech Ministry of Defense statedthat it intends to support any initiative that will lead to a ceasefire and an end to the conflict on terms acceptable to Ukraine. The minister clarified that she would not be against China’s mediation in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
“It doesn’t matter if the West or countries that may be close to Russia will be the moderator,” Chernokhova said. According to her, it is important to find a state that will have sufficient respect from Moscow. “The whole world must do everything to end these horrors as soon as possible. If there is someone who can do it, I applaud them. I don’t care if it’s China,” she added.
Chernokhova mentioned the PRC peace plan, which Beijing had previously made public. According to her, “even Ukraine hears” about this proposal, and the rest of the initiatives were “very strange.”
A 12-point plan to resolve the situation in Ukraine was published by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on February 24. Beijing’s main theses: respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and the norms of international law; abandoning the “Cold War mentality”; ceasefire and hostilities, as “there are no winners in wars”; launching peace talks; settlement of the humanitarian crisis; protection of civilians and prisoners of war; NPP safety support; reducing strategic risks and preventing the use of nuclear weapons.
This week, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko also called for an end to hostilities in Ukraine, a truce without the right to move and transfer military equipment from both sides in order to prevent the conflict from escalating and World War III. In the Kremlin after that reportedthat Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss this issue with Lukashenka next week.
