For Ukraine, the scenario of Cyprus, which is de facto divided between Greece and Turkey, is possible. This opinion was expressed on Wednesday, November 29, by Tomas Pojar, adviser to the head of the Czech government on security.
As Pojar said in an interview with Dennik Postoj, it is possible that in Ukraine “some kind of front line will be established and a truce will be declared,” while he urged not to expect a peace treaty between Kiev and Moscow.
The division of Ukraine cannot be ruled out territorially, and its western part could be accepted into NATO and the European Union, as West Germany was in its time, the Czech politician believes. At the same time, he called a complete ceasefire a mandatory condition for the integration of part of Ukraine.
Previously, retired US Navy Admiral and former NATO Supreme Commander James Stavridis proposed take into account the experience of Korea to establish peace in Ukraine. He noted that the latest lesson from Korea is more difficult for Ukraine to accept, but it will probably have to agree, at least for a while, with the fact that Crimea belongs to Russia, as well as with the creation of a land corridor between the peninsula and Russia.
Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson warned that Ukraine risks losing Odessa and Kharkov due to a miscalculation by the country’s leadership, which refused to make peace with Russia. According to the expert, now Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will not be able to improve the situation.
