A powerful cyclone “Vanya” is approaching Moscow and the region from the Balkans, which will bring the heaviest snowfall in the last 63 years to the capital. Snowdrifts about half a meter high are expected, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.

At night the temperature will drop to -9 degrees, forecasters from the Hydrometeorological Center reported. December 15th will be the snowiest day. Temperatures are expected to be -8…-3 degrees during the day, -12… -7 degrees at night. The cyclone will bring up to 19–24 millimeters of precipitation per day to the capital and Moscow region.
