A powerful cyclone, called “Vanja” by German meteorologists, is approaching Moscow and the region from the Balkans. The heaviest snowfall in 63 years is expected, with snowdrifts expected to increase to 45–50 centimeters by the end of the week. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Moscow issued a message about a snowstorm and strong winds with gusts of up to 17 m/s on December 14 and 15. By the weekend it will warm up to zero degrees in the capital, and high humidity is expected. Earlier, a cyclone caused a storm and a tornado in the British Isles. In Bavaria, rivers have overflowed their banks, and the water level in the Rhine and Danube has increased.
