Cyber expert Stepanov: fast discharge of a smartphone may be a sign of a virus

The head of one of the directions of the T1 Group company, Valery Stepanov, explained to the Prime agency what alarming symptoms should attract the attention of the owner of the smartphone and why.
Of course, the expert noted, some annoying changes in the operation of the gadget can be caused by the imprudent actions of its owner or mistress: it often “hangs”, reboots, it starts to run out of battery power and, in general, its performance drops sharply. But all this is quite natural if you constantly run a lot of applications on it, upload a lot of content, the same video.
But if the owners do not have increased activity, then a quick loss of charge and low performance are a signal that the user should be wary: this may be a sign of an unauthorized launch of malware that gives someone access to smartphone data.
Another alarming sign is the too rapid depletion of paid Internet traffic. This may mean that malware is using the traffic to send some information to an external source. Strange things can also happen to the screen – it can start flashing in different colors. In this case, if the removal of the program that causes this effect does not work, the expert recommends resetting the settings to factory settings.
Finally, you should pay attention, Stepanov recalled, to the situation when the smartphone is activated by itself: for example, it lies on the table, and then the screen suddenly starts to glow, some application is downloaded, or unexpected signals or sounds appear. An important symptom in this sense is the appearance of third-party banners in the official Internet banking application or an application that the user has not downloaded.
“All of the above may be the result of wiretapping or malware installed on your smartphone,” Valery Stepanov summed up.
