Alexander Novikov, Head of Research, Cyber Analytics and Development, Group T1, in an interview with the agency “Prime” stated that scammers use applications that, after being installed on a smartphone, track its location.

According to him, now there are special applications that show where the device is located. They can be used for both good purposes, such as tracking the movements of children or elderly relatives, and bad ones. In particular, such programs can be used by hackers.

He clarified that the phone number itself contains a lot of personal information. This includes social media accounts. To prevent cyber attacks, according to the expert, you need to get a separate SIM card.

“Never give personal information to strangers who call you under any pretext. It is better to interrupt this conversation and check the information in official sources,” Novikov said.
