CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas stated that the countries of the organization as a whole agreed on a draft decision on joint measures to provide assistance to Armenia. He said this while speaking at a meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CSTO.
According to him, in the Caucasus region, the efforts of Yerevan and other participants to achieve peace agreements, as well as the legal registration of borders and the unblocking of transport communications, play a positive role. According to Zas, tension remains on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
He recalled that three extraordinary sessions of the Collective Security Council were devoted to discussing threats to Armenia. They were held in May, September and October of this year.
Former President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the upcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
Before that, Putin met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan in Sochi. It discussed the situation in Transcaucasia and the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
