CSKA beat Metallurg in the match for the KHL Opening Cup

In the Opening Cup match – the first game of the new KHL season – the CSKA hockey club beat Metallurg Magnitogorsk with a score of 6:2 (0:2, 5:0, 1:0). The meeting was held at the CSKA Arena stadium in Moscow.
As part of the army team, Mikhail Grigorenko (21st and 44th minutes), Danil Yurtaykin, Pavel Karnaukhov (27), Semyon Pankratov (28), Sergey Plotnikov (38) and Danil Yurtaykin (39) scored goals. Pavel Akolzin (9) and Semyon Koshelev (14) scored against Metallurg.
CSKA won the Opening Cup for the second time in its history. For the first time, the army team won this trophy in the 2015/16 season. In April, CSKA and Metallurg met in the Gagarin Cup final. Then the Moscow team won with a score of 4:1.
As part of the new KHL season, the teams will play 68 games in the regular season. It will end on February 26, 2023. The playoffs will start on March 1st.
