The Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (FTC RFU) issued a verdict after investigating a scandalous incident that occurred in the match of the 13th round of the Premier League CSKA-Spartak between the head coaches of the teams. Recall that the incident was caused by the situation when the midfielder of the red and white Roman Zobnin, acting in the spirit of the so-called fair play, tried to stop the game, but the red and blue, not appreciating his noble intention, especially since the referee did not give a whistle, picked up the ball and carried out an effective attack. Passions flared up immediately after the army team scored a goal, and then the showdown continued during the break of the match.

Abascal approached Fedotov in order to express dissatisfaction with the fact that his wards violated the principle of fair play in a raised voice, and in response he ran into a rude verbal passage using obscene language.

It seemed that the incident had been settled, besides, both the refereeing team and the match delegate actually ignored it in their reports, nevertheless, the FTC decided to initiate a case against Fedotov and Abaskal based on media materials, for which he turned to the main broadcaster of the Russian Championship with a request to provide video recordings. According to Artur Grigoryants, chairman of the RFU FTC, the trial was not only based on video footage. As a result, “for insulting behavior against an official of the club and a player of the opposing team using profanity and offensive language,” the FTC decided to disqualify CSKA head coach Vladimir Fedotov for two matches of the Russian championship. At the same time, for now, he will only miss the match of the 14th round with Orenburg, and one more match of his disqualification is considered conditional. The probationary period for a suspended sentence is set until the end of the 2022/2023 season. Spartak head coach Guillermo Abascal “for unsportsmanlike behavior and provocative actions of an official of the club, creating a threat of violations of public order at the stadium” was suspended by the FTC for one match of the Russian championship.
