CSKA and Spartak played like two and two

The next round of the championship of Russia crowned the most principled domestic football match, which this time turned out to be insanely exciting. CSKA and Spartak, who played at home, took turns shooting segments of clear superiority over their opponents in it, taking turns taking the lead, but in the end they parted with the world – 2: 2. The draw allowed the Spartacists to reach the second – after Zenit, which defeated Pari Nizhny Novgorod with a score of 3:0 – position in the championship.
In clashes between CSKA and Spartak, no matter what periods in the life of these clubs they occur, too often the decisive factor is not the form of the team, not tactical tricks, not superiority in the class in principle, but emotions. There are almost always plenty of them in these meetings, and the ability to control passions, keep your head cold can turn into a powerful trump card. So, it was impossible not to pay attention to the fact that at Spartak its temperature is decently higher than that which insures against trouble. Yes, at least two episodes with the participation of the army central defender Willian Roshi.
It is clear that at the beginning of a match of such status, such intensity, one cannot afford obvious and unjustified rudeness. The two most dangerous Spartak forwards allowed themselves to do it twice during the first quarter of an hour of the game.
Quincy Promes forced the VAR to turn on, suddenly, when the attack had already choked and the events moved to the other half, hitting Rosha in the legs from behind. Hitting lightly, so that it is unlikely that the gestures and grimaces of the army team, depicting unbearable pain, could at least approximately correspond to reality, but still it was an unpleasant foul. Promes and Spartak were lucky: referee Sergei Karasev limited himself to a yellow card.
And then, far from his goal, Alexander Sobolev crashed into Roshi’s leg as if he wanted to put him out of action for at least a couple of months at all costs. The defender recovered quickly, and perhaps it was precisely this circumstance that saved Sobolev from removal: Karasev limited himself to a warning here.
The difference in the state of CSKA and Spartak was also illustrated by football itself. It’s not that the army team dominated, pressed without stopping, but they were definitely much more accurate than their rivals, who – so you might think – went too far, “winding up” before the derby. And the advantage of CSKA in sensible attacks, brought or almost brought to a promising ending, looked colossal.
Army goal, of course, is mature. He almost matured when, after a corner kick, Baktier Zainutdinov hit his head, as if for sure – under the crossbar, into the zone where goalkeeper Alexander Selikhov had no time to move. Spartak was rescued by Daniil Denisov, who remained on the “ribbon” and jumped high enough to get the ball.
Soon, however, logic prevailed. While the Spartacists asked their opponents and Karasev to take a break, referring to Promes who had fallen on the lawn, Milan Gayich threw the ball to Fedor Chalov from the center of the field. The army striker was opposed by Miha Mevlya, but he played somehow terribly clumsy. Chalov, coolly dealing with all the rebounds, ricochets, the ball tamed and sent into the net.
But the history of the main Russian derby is also not such a short list of incredible plot somersaults that turn everything upside down. And Sunday added another line to it.
The break changed the guests beyond recognition. After him, a new “Spartak” entered the field, adding to him both anger and concentration, and performers suitable for converting these traits into something material. With Anton Zinkovsky, the Spartak coach Guillermo Abascal hit the bull’s-eye for sure. Zinkovsky shocked immediately – with a gorgeous goal, which he scored by shooting from the corner of the penalty area into the far corner. And after him, he continued to torment, together with his partners, the suddenly softened army rear.
CSKA, having run into such a Spartak, seemed to be at a loss, not understanding how to adapt to it. He failed every now and then, every now and then he made losses. But the Spartacists did not loosen their grip, and the two who were once next to the removal of the striker built a second goal. Promes dragged the ball, laid it out at the left edge of Sobolev, and he gave such a spurt that in a couple of seconds there was no longer any of the army men near him. It was not difficult for the striker to deal with goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.
But that wasn’t the last plot twist. CSKA for a long, painfully came to his senses – and came. And the replacement of his coach Vladimir Fedotov also played. Ivan Oblyakov completed the perfect cross – exactly on the head of Chalov forgotten in the center of the penalty area.
For this match, it was impossible to come up with a more correct outcome, perhaps, than a draw, to which he taxied. Thanks to her, CSKA caught up with Rostov, who was in second place before the round, which lost to Ural on Friday, and Spartak was even a point ahead of the Rostovites. His backlog from the ever more confidently leading the table “Zenith” is seven points.
The leader himself played an away match that day, which turned out to be quite simple for him compared, for example, with the one in which he lost two points a week ago, fighting against Fakel. Nizhny Novgorod, which looked rather pale in the previous three rounds, lost to Orenburg and Spartak in them, having parted ways with the sinking Torpedo, did not even try to bite with Zenit. For the entire match, the Nizhny Novgorod team never hit the St. Petersburg gates, and the most usual thing for them was, sitting in their own penalty area and on the approaches close to it, almost the whole team, trying to neutralize the quality of the anti-aircraft attack with the density of their own defense. Nothing good came of this, of course. The players of “Zenith” transferred the ball to the flanks in time to stretch the Nizhny Novgorod defense. Daler Kuzyaev, Claudinho and Malcom scored three goals, although in reality there could have been many more.
