Last Sunday, January 21, the Eagle Cross-Country Championships were held in the picturesque Medvedevsky Forest tract. This large-scale sporting event brought together more than 140 athletes, the city administration reports.
Participants competed in seven age categories in the “free style” discipline at distances of 1, 3, 5 and 10 kilometers. The athletes demonstrated their best ski racing skills and techniques, fighting not only for victory, but also for the spirit of team competition.
The winners in a separate category among men and women in each age group were awarded cups, medals and certificates. The winners were also recognized.
It is worth noting that the event was held as part of the “With the Whole Family” project, which was launched throughout the country and dedicated to the Year of the Family announced by the President of the Russian Federation. Sports events held under the auspices of the “With the Whole Family” project contribute to the development and strengthening of family values, a healthy lifestyle and active recreation. It is important to note that such events stimulate the growth of sports achievements and the popularity of cross-country skiing among young and adult residents of Orel.
