The authorities of the Croatian city of Dubrovnik have officially banned the transport of suitcases on wheels. It is reported by the New York Post.
It is noted that local residents have repeatedly complained about the noise from the suitcases of travelers with whom they move along the cobbled streets. Citizens note that the outgoing noise prevents them from sleeping normally at night.
As a result, the mayor of Dubrovnik, Mato Franković, has introduced new rules that will prevent tourists from using wheeled suitcases on the roads in Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Violators will be required to pay a $288 fine.
From November, local authorities are going to launch a system whereby travelers will be able to leave their suitcases outside the city, after which the bags will be brought by couriers directly to their addresses.
