Saudi Al-Nasr striker Cristiano Ronaldo has set another world record, according to the press service of the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IIFHS).
On August 29, the striker scored 2 goals in a match with Al-Shabab. This brings his total national league goals to 517. Ronaldo overtook Josef Bican and Ferenc Puskas to break their long-term record of 515 goals.
As noted in the IIFHS statement, only goals scored in national championships were taken into account in the statistics.
Currently, only three football players have more than 500 goals in the national championships in their careers. Lionel Messi has 496 such goals.
