Crimeans opposed pyrotechnics for the New Year because of the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

“It was loud, even the windows shuddered”

On Saturday evening, residents of several cities in Crimea were frightened by loud noises. It turns out that Ukraine has made another attempt to attack the peninsula and probe its weaknesses with an unknown weapon, presumably a UAV. The air defense forces successfully repulsed the onslaught.

It is known that the targets were objects in Simferopol, and also, presumably, in Dzhankoy. Anti-aircraft defenses, however, intercepted and destroyed the object flying at low altitude, and a powerful explosion over Simferopol was even caught on video. There are no dead or injured, but it is not known if any destruction could have happened in the city.

Citizens share their emotions about what happened. “My husband and I were already tense when we heard some deaf explosions. At first they thought that it seemed. and no – it didn’t seem. This is the district of Dmitry Ulyanov, ”said Marina from Crimea.

The claps were most well heard over the central district of the city, but at the same time, loud sounds reached even the inhabitants of villages remote from the city. “The village of Klenovka, 23 kilometers from Simferopol, 2 pops were heard, and the alarm on the car went off,” said Alexander, a resident of Crimea.

In general, people were divided into two halves, some say: “We didn’t hear anything, it’s true, it was raining,” others say: “it banged so that the walls shook.”

The head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov also spoke about the incident in his telegram channel. He confirmed that an air defense system worked over Simferopol. According to him, all services are now operating normally. The official asked the townspeople to remain calm and trust information only from official sources.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants of the peninsula after the incident questioned the correctness of the permission to use pyrotechnic products on New Year’s Eve, namely fireworks and fireworks: “Why were fireworks allowed? We need to ban them – they are now completely irrelevant! – considers Evgenia, a resident of Simferopol, – we will survive without them, otherwise guess what it was ?! Especially after today’s situation, my heart is still anxious! However, not all residents of Crimea support it. There are also those who believe that no procedures of intimidation by Ukraine should be allowed into their lives. “This New Year, this holiday should be no different from others,” says Sergey, a resident of Sevastopol, “we all remember how we lived about Ukraine. There was no heat, no water, no electricity! Only under Russia did they live like a human being! And we will also celebrate the New Year like people: so that we ourselves would be joyful, and so that the children would have fun. Only, perhaps, it is necessary to disseminate more information about where and when fireworks will be fired. So that people understand: these are festive volleys! By the way, we would like to remind you that a high level of terrorist threat continues to operate on the territory of Crimea, security at infrastructure, energy and life support facilities has been strengthened.
