Crimean authorities nationalize Zelensky’s apartment

The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, spoke about the intention of local authorities “out of principle” to nationalize the apartment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Livadia. October 18 deputies of the State Council of the Republic accepted a law on the possibility of recognizing property belonging to citizens of unfriendly states as the property of Crimea.
“On principle, we will take it from him and give it to someone,” Mr. Aksenov said in an interview with TASS.
Answering a question about the future fate of enterprises nationalized in accordance with the law, the head of Crimea said that they are working as usual, and they do not plan to cut workers.
“We are checking a number of objects, agreeing, among other things, with colleagues from the FSB, clarifying the lists of founders, … we are analyzing whether there are statements on the SVO in the public domain, an anti-Russian position, and so on. If we see that this is a citizen of Ukraine, especially now working for the Ukrainian authorities, … what other solution can there be? Such people should not earn money here,” he explained.
At the same time, according to Sergei Aksyonov, they will not take property from citizens of Ukraine who “do not show any hostility”. “If we talk about enterprises, there are at most a dozen of them here, there are no more,” he added.
November 2, authorities of the republic nationalized more than 130 facilities that belonged to Ukrainian owners, including the Bakhchisaray cement plant, the largest in the region, and the Zaliv shipbuilding plant, which has been fulfilling multibillion-dollar government orders from the Russian Defense Ministry since 2014.
Yesterday, December 14, the State Council of Crimea turned on the property of Megastroy was included in the list of enterprises to be nationalized. According to Kommersant’s sources, the owner of the company is the former People’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Gerega and his wife Galina.
