In honor of its 125th anniversary, the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov established the Art Theater Prize to support young artists. This year, the youngest prima of the Bolshoi Theater, Elizaveta Kokoreva, became the winner of the award in the Ballet category. On December 9, a creative evening of the twenty-two-year-old ballerina took place on the New Stage of the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov. Elizaveta performed classical, neoclassical and modern choreography. The partners in the performance were the Bolshoi Theater premier Dmitry Smolensky, as well as the first soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Alexey Putnice and modern dance star Ildar Gainutdinov. Ballet historian Alexey Isaichev and Bolshoi Theater choreographer and Elizaveta Kokoreva’s teacher, Maria Allash, spoke about the ballerina’s hardships and obstacles on the path to success. Vadim Vernik, deputy director of the A.P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater for public relations, also took part in the evening. In addition, the event featured unique archival photos and video materials from the first rehearsals and excerpts from famous ballets.
