Court to reconsider Prigozhin’s claim against Venediktov over businessman’s confession

The lawyer of the editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, Alexei Venediktov, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, said that the Presnensky Court of Moscow would review the lawsuit filed by businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin against his client.
Kaloy Akhilgov explained that in 2020 Venediktov called Prigozhin “the owner of PMC Wagner.” The businessman in response filed a lawsuit for the protection of honor and dignity. Two years later, the Presnensky Court partially satisfied his claims. He recognized the information as unreliable, but rejected the demand for its refutation and did not award monetary compensation.
In 2022, Prigozhin acknowledged the creation of the PMC in 2014 and its participation in hostilities in Syria and other countries of the world. Therefore, the words of Venediktov look more than reliable. As a result, a lawsuit was sent to the court to review the previous decision in connection with the circumstances that had come to light.
“And the circumstances are such that everything that Prigozhin’s representatives told us in court, Prigozhin himself denied in the media. So, there are grounds for revision,” Akhilgov said.
A hearing on the lawsuit has been scheduled for February 6.
