It was established that in 2021, the athlete got behind the wheel while intoxicated, accelerated the car to 200 km/h and flew into another car, where there were a man, a woman and two children. One of the passengers, a four-year-old boy, was seriously injured and died in hospital.
The victims feared that the football player would escape justice in Russia – since 2022, Vlut has been playing for the Yekaterinburg Ural (at the time of the accident, the athlete played for the Dutch Heracles). At the March hearing, the athlete was present in person: there he admitted his guilt and repented of his deed.
At the announcement of the verdict, the athlete did not appear (on April 1, the footballer took part in the match between Ural and Zenit in St. Petersburg). As part of the process, the athlete’s lawyers said that Vlut would not run away from the execution of the sentence.
In the meantime, FC Ural reported that they were not aware of the court decision, although they were closely monitoring the situation, RIA Novosti indicated. Prior to that, the president of the club Grigory Ivanov emphasizedthat the athlete is “ready for any decision”.
