Cosmonauts Prokopiev and Petelin complete spacewalk

Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin completed work in outer space. About it informs Roskosmos.

They returned to the International Space Station (ISS) at 06:11 Moscow time, having been in outer space for 7 hours and 11 minutes. During this time, the cosmonauts were preparing the airlock for transfer from the Rassvet module to the Nauka module. The transfer using the ERA manipulator was carried out from the ISS by cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.

Then Prokopyev and Petelin ensured that the lock chamber was docked to the Nauka module and connected the cables between it and the module.

It is noted that the exit of Russian cosmonauts into open space became the second since the beginning of 2023. Initially, the work of the cosmonauts outside the ISS was scheduled for April 26, but the exit moved due to the need to “work out its tasks in more detail.” For Prokopiev, this spacewalk was the fifth, and for Petelin – the third, the state corporation specified.

Previous spacewalk by Prokopiev and Petelin committed April 19, 2023 In almost 8 hours, the cosmonauts prepared the radiator from the Rassvet module for transfer and installed it on the Nauka module. From the ISS, the ERA manipulator was also controlled by Fedyaev. Roskosmos previously reported that it is planned to open the radiator panels during the third spacewalk in 2023.

Now the crew of the 69th long-term expedition is working on the ISS, consisting of Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev (ISS-69 commander), Dmitry Petelin and Andrey Fedyaev, as well as NASA astronauts Francisco Rubio, Stephen Bowen, Warren Hoburg and UAE astronaut Sultan al-Neyadi .
