Cosmonaut Krikalev explained US interest in cross-flights

Cross flights of cosmonauts and astronauts to the ISS is a good example of mutually beneficial cooperation. This was stated by the pilot-cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev. Now he is the executive director of Roskosmos for manned programs.
This type of cooperation involves sending Russian cosmonauts on American-made ships, and US astronauts on Russian ones. Such a delivery system to the ISS operated until 2011. After that, they began to use exclusively Russian ships. Two years ago, NASA resumed negotiations with Roskosmos on the return of the previous scheme.
As Krikalev noted, the main goal of the program is to solve emergency situations. For example, problems associated with the launch, rendezvous, docking of the spacecraft. It is important that both segments of the ISS are not left without crews. At least one of the shifters will arrive at the station.
At the same time, a representative of Roskosmos said that the Russian side does not yet plan to fly on the American Starliner ships, since they have not yet been properly tested.
