Coronavirus pandemic extended again: WHO considers the situation an emergency

Expert: “The measure announced by the organization is aimed primarily at China”

On January 30, WHO headquarters extended the COVID-19 “state of emergency”. The experts concluded that the situation with the coronavirus “may be approaching a tipping point.” In their opinion, the achievement of high levels of immunity in the world population due to vaccination and past covid disease “may limit the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on morbidity and mortality.”

Sounds warning. However, the latest published statistics dated January 28, 2023 says otherwise. What is the “tipping point” if only 132,000 people fell ill all over the world that day, and less than 7,000 died?

The main increase comes from Asian countries: Japan (44 thousand cases), Taiwan (27 thousand people). Perhaps this is due to the proximity to China, where a strong wave is still raging associated with the abrupt lifting of three-year quarantine measures. Alas, we do not know the numbers of cases in China itself, since they are officially classified by the authorities.

Against the background of India, where only 80 people fell ill per day, or the Czech Republic, where the infection was confirmed in 45 people, and even based on the situation in Russia (+5979), the WHO decision seems excessive. What kind of pandemic can we talk about if there are much more heart attacks and strokes in the world per day?

There are no pandemics with such incidence rates. Here, however, we will return to the fact that the WHO did not officially declare a pandemic, and this word was used in order to draw attention to … the unbanal situation of the winter of 2020. Who knew how it would all end?

Then why does WHO need all this now? To resurrect what has already been practically buried?

“I draw your attention to the fact that this is really not a pandemic, but an emergency of international importance,” comments Alexander Saversky, President of the Patient Protection League. – Such emergencies, if you look, occur all the time. For example, the Dick virus, which few people have heard of, or Ebola, and even the unforgettable swine flu. Although at one time swine flu was just declared an official pandemic, which caused criticism and the abolition of this concept. Therefore, in the case of coronavirus, a pandemic was not declared, as there is an official letter from the Foreign Ministry. I remain convinced that if we label each strain of the virus and use unthinkable diagnostic and treatment methods, apply the most severe restrictions that the world community has used since 2020, then we will end up with exactly the same picture as now. If the scheme works and no one rebelled, no one was fired or punished, the stars were hanged, they received money, then why not continue to apply it? We have seen and continue to see irresponsibility on an international scale. I believe that global healthcare is an area in which there should be no place for private capital focused on making a profit. He should not govern and manipulate states. In fact, WHO today is a private structure with huge funding, which works in the interests of certain groups. It shouldn’t be.

“Perhaps we see an attempt by the World Health Organization to re-pull the blanket over itself and become the center of attention, as it has been for the past three years,” said Inna Yambulatova, secretary of the Hippocratic Medical Forum. – Due to the fact that countries stopped sponsoring additional measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic, this probably affected the financial situation of the WHO itself. In recent years, states have incurred certain costs in connection with the introduction of emergency measures, for example, the travel of staff and the WHO inspectorate, which monitored how recommendations are being implemented on the ground. Questions were constantly raised that countries should increase funding for supranational activities.

– The final happy ending is unfavorable for WHO. But the world economy is in crisis. Do states really not understand this and will continue to obey?

– It must be remembered that the decision of the WHO is primarily advisory in nature. And each country independently determines the measures that it applies or does not apply in a given situation. We proceed from the incidence rates that currently exist in the Russian Federation. Currently, there is no data for the introduction of emergency measures on the territory of the Russian Federation.

– So what guided the World Health Organization?

– I can assume that the measure that the WHO announced today was aimed primarily at China. It is difficult to expect the non-participation of this organization in politics, dealing exclusively with humanitarian missions. It must be understood that WHO is quite politically engaged. And we ourselves need to raise the question of determining Russia’s status as a member of the WHO. The expediency of continuing to be in it. Either we change the structure of the WHO from the inside and increase our influence, or we are considering the procedure for suspending our membership. Unfortunately, the WHO Charter does not provide for a direct withdrawal from it.
