Cooperation between Russia and Belarus in matters of import substitution has become more dense

The interaction between Belarus and Russia within the framework of the import substitution programs of the Union State has become closer, declared in an interview with STV, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev.
“It is very important that today the style of interaction within the framework of import substitution programs has become much more dense. Import substitution programs will be implemented in a very wide range of popular areas,” he said.
According to Mezentsev, we are talking about mechanical engineering for energy and agriculture, the automotive industry, interaction in the chemical industry and in terms of replacing “short deliveries” of products associated with sanctions pressure in the field of microelectronics and in high-tech industries.
“In the strategic plan, today Russia and Belarus again and again confirm their closeness, strategic partnership and deep, large-scale, multi-stage, multifaceted cooperation. These are not newspaper or television words, not formulas,” Mezentsev said in response to a question about the prospects for the Union State.
In the fall of 2021, the Presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, signed the integration decree of the Union State, approved the military doctrine and the migration concept. Such cooperation between the two countries has been discussed since 1999. As a result, last year the presidents agreed on union programs aimed at convergence and harmonization in macroeconomic, monetary and industrial policy, and tax legislation.
By the end of 2022, trade between Russia and Belarus may grow to $45-50 billion, allowed in October at the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
