Contemporary art fair Art Russia 2023 opens in Moscow

The unique project was organized by art critic and curator Elizaveta Frolova and Synergy Corporation. More than 100 artists, sculptors, photographers and other artists present their works in Gostiny Dvor – sometimes incomprehensible, contradictory, unusual, but always unique and interesting.

“Art Russia consists of an art forum and an exhibition part. “Art Russia Fair appeared in a pandemic year and continued to develop in even more difficult times. Despite this, over the past three years, we clearly see that people will always need art. For a short period of time, we have already collected an extensive database of artists’ success stories based on their participation in Art Russia. It is safe to say that this edition of the fair will not only be a highlight on the art map of Moscow in spring, but also a definite mouthpiece for new trends, techniques and names in contemporary art,” said Elizaveta Frolova.

The stands are completely different in terms of technique, materials and vision of excellent work. Here, engravings by contemporary Japanese artists side by side with the work of a Korean porcelain and Japanese ceramist. The theme of folklore is presented: for one author, it is intertwined with the aesthetics of the 90s and zero years, and in the paintings of the second artist, images and themes of Russian folk tales are shown.

Viewers can see recognizable images from the paintings of Santi, Botticelli and other Renaissance masters in a modern vision, sculptures made in an abstract-intuitive direction, and even unusual works from plexiglass transformed by fire and paint (last year, I remember, there was a burnt colored fishing line – grow, comrades!

Digital art is also presented at the fair: digital artists create works in front of the audience with the help of a neural network (where would it be today without it). On the children’s territory of the fair, called “Worlds of the Future”, the works of artists of a new generation – under the age of 18 years old – are demonstrated. The Tavrida art cluster, beloved by the president, also presents works by young artists. Among them are the projects of Russian and foreign authors. The fair also shows works that have become part of the exhibition project “Without Borders. Artists of Donbass.

More than 100 leading representatives of the Russian art community are scheduled to perform at the art forum. Experts will discuss key industry topics: the growing role of artificial intelligence, the monetization of the work of emerging and established artists, metaverses and creative industries, the development of art in the regions.

“The sphere of contemporary art must develop. This cannot be achieved without attracting young talents. They need to be educated, to carry out educational work, to form an idea of ​​the art of the future, to discuss acute issues with them. And, of course, to provide exhibition space. This is what we do within Art Russia. Here artists have a unique opportunity to meet and communicate with the audience, make useful contacts and make themselves known in the community. This exhibition is a serious step in the development of Russian art,” said Vadim Lobov, co-founder of the Art Russia fair, president of the Synergy Corporation.
