Consul General in Istanbul: Western patrons are preventing Kyiv from pursuing dialogue with Russia
The position of Western countries prevents the Ukrainian authorities from starting a dialogue with Russia, Andrei Buravov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
After the start of the Northern Military District in 2022, peace negotiations were held in Istanbul between representatives of the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
Buravov recalled that Moscow has always been committed to dialogue, but the President of Ukraine legally prohibited negotiations with Russian representatives.
“His Western patrons are doing their best to hinder movement in this direction, dissuading him from dialogue and supplying new, increasingly lethal types of weapons to the regime controlled by Kyiv in the hope of inflicting a “strategic defeat” on Russia,” the diplomat said. At the same time, he noted the deliberate doom of such a policy.
Buravov also stated that the goals of the special military operation would be achieved in any case.
“And by what methods this will be done depends on the willingness of the opposite side to negotiate on the basis of existing realities and ensuring the legitimate interests of our country,” he said.
