Construction of an indoor football arena is underway in Chelyabinsk

The progress of work at the construction site of the indoor football arena was assessed by the Minister of Sports of the Chelyabinsk Region, Alexander Grib.
The construction of a large-scale sports facility with an area of 25 thousand square meters at the intersection of Molodogvardeytsev and Universitetskaya Embankment streets began on the initiative of Governor Alexei Teksler. In August 2023, the head of the region, together with the Secretary General of the Russian Football Union Maxim Mitrofanov and Olympic champion and athlete Yuri Borzakovsky, during a ceremony, launched the construction of the first indoor football arena in the Chelyabinsk region with running tracks, sectors for athletics and stands for three thousand spectators .
To date, construction and installation work at the site is progressing according to schedule. The soil layer is being cut off and filled with rock, and piling work has begun. Completion of construction is scheduled for 2025.
“The construction of an indoor football arena in Chelyabinsk is an important step in attracting the population to physical education and developing the sports infrastructure of the entire region. On behalf of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Teksler, we are creating new conditions for sports,” noted Alexander Grib.
Let us add that the new arena will be able to host not only sporting competitions of the highest level, but also cultural events. Also, children’s and youth sports schools for football and athletics will be based here, and the Chelyabinsk football club will be able to conduct training and matches all year round.
