Petr Chernik, a military analyst and colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said in an interview with Big Lvov TV channel that Ukraine is considering an attrition blockade of Crimea.
In his opinion, this is not such a difficult task from the point of view of military logic, since it is a matter of time until the combat group and the population of the peninsula are physically exhausted. Chernik believes that in order to implement this plan, Ukraine will need to destroy the Crimean bridge, but without aviation and long-range missiles, Kyiv will not be able to complete such a task.
Chernik also believes that American F-16s will be suitable for this purpose, and that they need to be purchased in large quantities. Despite plans to launch an offensive operation in the Crimea, the Kyiv authorities have not received long-range missiles and aviation from the West.
Earlier, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, claimed that Kyiv was negotiating the supply of these weapons, but the West was refusing to provide them.
