Colombian Ambassador invited to Russian Foreign Ministry after words about wounded in Kramatorsk

Colombian Ambassador to Russia Hector Isidro Arenas Neira was invited to the Russian Foreign Ministry to clarify the situation in connection with Bogota’s statements about three Colombians injured in Kramatorsk. About it says in a message from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“On June 30, Colombian Ambassador to Moscow E. Arenas Neira was invited to the Russian Foreign Ministry, who was given the following explanations in connection with the statements of the Colombian leadership regarding three citizens of this country who were injured in the city of Kramatorsk,” the statement said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry wished the Colombian citizens a speedy recovery and “return to a safe place.” The department recalled that the target of the strike of the Russian Armed Forces was the location of the command staff of the 56th motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“At the moment the target was hit, Colombian civilians were in a restaurant located in the same building. According to available information, they were aware of being in close proximity to the line of fire in the NVO zone and the risks associated with this,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added and reminded the Colombian ambassador of the need to warn citizens of the country from traveling to the war zone.

According to him, the Russian military hit objects that are “one way or another connected with the military infrastructure.”

After that, Colombian President Gustavo Petro called on the country’s Foreign Ministry to pass a diplomatic note of protest to Russia. He specified that three Colombian citizens were injured in the incident. It was reported that former presidential adviser Sergio Jaramillo, writer Hector Abad and journalist Catalina Gomez were in Kramatorsk during the missile attack. The Russian Embassy, ​​in turn, expressed regret about what happened, but noted that “a front-line city turned into an operational and rear-military hub” is not the most suitable place for tasting Ukrainian cuisine.
