Hamas militants are blocking the exit of foreigners from the Gaza Strip. This is reported by CNN, citing a US official familiar with the situation. It is noted that Hamas will allow foreigners to leave Gaza after they receive guarantees from Israel that ambulances will be able to reach the Rafah checkpoint on the border with Egypt.
The corresponding demand appeared after the IDF carried out an air strike on an ambulance near Al-Shifa Hospital on October 3. According to preliminary data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, the car contained wounded people who were heading to Egypt for treatment. The department noted that at least 15 people were killed and 60 were injured.
In order for the civilian population to leave Gaza, the Rafah checkpoint was opened on November 1. According to the UN, 500 foreigners received permission to leave the Palestinian enclave that day.
