Australian rider Rose suspended for competing in Borat swimsuit

The Australian Equestrian Federation has suspended award-winning rider Shane Rose for wearing a Borat costume at a show jumping competition, writes RMC.

Tournament participants were recommended to wear original costumes. The choice of the three-time Olympic medalist outraged moralists and prompted the federation to open a disciplinary case against him. The athlete is currently suspended from competition.

The 50-year-old athlete has already apologized on social networks: “I am sincerely sorry if I offended anyone.” He hopes the test result will allow him to return to competition and will not affect his preparations for the Paris Olympics.

The Borat suit (Borat swimsuit) is named after the popular character played by American actor and director Sacha Baron Cohen. Borat is, to put it mildly, eccentric, including in his choice of clothes. The upper part of the suit on Rose is shown in the photograph, the lower part covers only one place – all together they form the so-called Borat swimsuit, which is sold under this name on marketplaces.
