Classes of the winter school of the “Floating University – 2023” were held in Moscow

MIPT, Moscow State University M. V. Lomonosov and the National Research University Higher School of Economics took classes at the winter scientific school “Floating University – 2023”.

What is a floating university? This is a project of several Russian universities, which helps oceanology students find a research team and supervisor that suits them, the teams themselves find talented students, and employers find personnel. The project is being implemented within the framework of the national program “Science to Universities”.

Within the framework of the Day of Science for three days at the sites of nine Russian institutes, in particular, three metropolitan ones – MIPT, Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov and the National Research University Higher School of Economics, classes were held at the All-Russian Scientific Winter School “Floating University – 2023”. More than a thousand students and young scientists from 82 cities of Russia took part in it. The guests of the event listened to lectures and took part in master classes in such areas of oceanology as physics and chemistry of the ocean, features of studying the ocean from space, the interaction of the ocean and the atmosphere, the causes of climate change, exploration and mining on the shelf, the relationship between marine biology and ecology, study of maritime heritage.

As Alexander Osadchiev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Institute of Oceanology, noted, thanks to the work of the Floating University, the best students get the opportunity to go on expeditions, and then, along with experienced researchers, study the behavior of ice in the Arctic, gain the first practical experience and determine their path to science. . According to Andrei Omelchuk, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science, the program, firstly, is open to all interested participants, regardless of their educational profile, and secondly, it provides an opportunity to draw attention to marine sciences and tell why it is interesting to work in this field today. areas.

The national project “Science and Universities” is aimed at attracting talented young people to science, increasing the involvement of the professional community in the effective solution of strategically important issues in the scientific field. According to the goals of the national project, Russia should enter the top five countries carrying out research and development in areas determined by the priorities of scientific and technological development.
