Cillian Mbappe switched to survival mode

The most expensive footballer in the world, Killian Mbappe, intends to leave PSG in January. This is reported by the Spanish edition of Marca. Moreover, the forward may not go to Real Madrid, which has been hunting for him for a long time, but to Liverpool. The difficulty is that it will be difficult for Liverpool to repeat Mbappe’s current contract. Under an agreement with PSG, signed this summer, he will receive a total of € 250 million over the next three seasons. However, according to Marca, Mbappe insists that money is not the main thing for him. PSG itself, however, insists that Mbappe has not told any of his bosses about his desire to leave the team in the winter.

Note that rumors about the separation of Mbappe and PSG (the attacker has been playing for the Parisians since 2017) have been circulating for several years. However, his last and decisive attempt was not crowned with success. Mbappe’s contract with PSG expired last summer and he could move to any club of his choice. But the striker decided to stay in Paris. Apparently appreciating the generosity of the salary offer: the Parisian club offered him a signing bonus of €300m and a salary (including bonuses) of €100m a year.

However, according to the Spanish edition of Marca, Mbappe will probably not complete his contract with PSG. The publication reports that the relationship between the player and the club’s management has become so complicated that in January 2023 he will be sold. Marca does not specify what exactly caused the striker’s quarrel with his bosses (only some unfulfilled promises from the club are mentioned). But I must say that it is difficult to find fault with the quality of the game performed by Mbappe. PSG are in first place in the French championship, and Mbappe, with eight goals in nine games, tops the list of scorers. The Parisians are also doing well in the Champions League, where after three rounds they take first place in Group H (Mbappe scored three goals).

However, Marca claims that the parties have already agreed to work out the striker’s transfer to another club, taking into account the financial requirements of the Parisians. Apparently, they will demand for the player an amount close to the above assessment of his Transfermarkt value. It is also reported that the owners of PSG set the condition that Mbappe should not go to Real Madrid. It seems that the president of the Parisian club, Nasser al-Khelaifi, is not ready to forgive Florentino Perez for constant attempts to intercept his key asset.

As the most likely contender for the services of Mbappe, the club of the English Premier League “Liverpool” is called. Moreover, Marca sources are sure that this is the only truly worthy option for Mbappé. Marca did not specify why the Liverpool team is considered the preferred option for Mbappe, but, according to The Telegraph, the matter is most likely in the personal predilections of the player’s environment. “We talked to the Liverpool team. Not for long,” Mbappe told The Telegraph. “I talked to them because it’s my mom’s favorite club. I don’t even know why, ask her.” Note that Mbappe’s mother Faiza Lamari is also his agent.

However, in PSG itself, information about Mbappe’s desire to change the club is denied. Parisians sporting director Luis Campos told Canal Plus on Tuesday night that he speaks to Mbappé every day and “he never talked about leaving in January.” “All this is not a statement from the player himself, all this is just press statements. And I have to say that Cillian Mbappe never spoke to me or to club president Nasser al-Khelaifi about wanting to leave PSG in January.”
