Chukotka table tennis fans fought for the Cup

The district team competed in the first round of the FEFD Team Table Tennis Cup. In Vladivostok, the region was represented by six Anadyr residents, winners of the regional stage. 32 teams from 11 regions of Russia fought for the title of the best, IA “Chukotka” reports.
The competitions were held on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University from May 19 to 21. The district was represented by six Anadyr tennis players and a coach. The men’s team included Yuri and Maxim Afendulov, Roman Guzhva. Tatyana Markhaeva, Olga Khmeleva and Kristina Prostokishina were part of the women’s team. All of them are amateur tennis players, winners of the regional stage. The age of athletes is from 13 to 48 years.

Yuri Afendulov showed the best result in the district team, he won the match against the representative of the second team of the Khabarovsk Territory. The guys got new experience and talked about plans to open a regional table tennis federation in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, ”said the corr. According to the organizers, 140 athletes from 32 teams from all regions of the Far East took part in the tournament. Representatives of regional universities and enterprises also competed for the title of champion. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Khabarovsk Territory and Buryatia became the winners of the first round of the Far East Cup in table tennis among women’s teams. Among the men’s teams – Primorsky Krai, “KRDV Primorye” and the Amur Region. Prize-winning places of the Chukotka team failed to take.
Four rounds are planned in the tournament, they will be held from May to November. The second round will take place from 3 to 6 August in Khabarovsk. The event is hosted by the Khabarovsk Regional Table Tennis Federation with the support of the embassy of the Far East Federal District, the Ministry of Sports of Russia, the Governments of the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories, as well as the Far Eastern Federal University.
