Chukotka boxers triumphed at interregional competitions

All Chukotka boxers who participated in the XXI Interregional Tournament in memory of the honored coach Evgeny Burmistrov will return home with trophies. The collection of awards for Anadyr athletes has been replenished with four gold, three bronze medals and a cup, reports Chukotka news agency.

The fighting took place in the Kolymsky sports complex in Magadan on October 6 and 7. The district was represented at the tournament by athletes aged 12 to 15 years. These are pupils of the sports sections of the District Children and Youth Sports School and the Palace of Children’s Creativity of Anadyr. Vladimir Berkutov became the best in his age and weight category of 46 kg, and he was awarded the cup for the best fighter in the competition. Mikhail Chernyavsky won confident victories in the 50 kg weight class and received the honorary title of Candidate Master of Sports. Benyomin Khasanov and Dmitry Chuprov also became undefeated in the 40 and 70 kg categories, respectively. They will all return home with gold medals.

Ansar Zhunusov, Daniil Anye and Timofey Gulpa stopped their progress in the semifinals of the tournament bracket. They became bronze medalists in the 50 and 34 kg weight categories.

“We didn’t go for results, but to gain experience. Some of our fighters competed at interregional competitions for the first time. It was important for them to feel the atmosphere of a big tournament and compete with new opponents. All the guys are great, they showed a decent level,” said DDT Anadyr boxing coach Malek Baitleuov.

According to the organizers, this year more than 120 people from Chukotka, Magadan, Khabarovsk Territory, Amur Region and Yakutia competed for the tournament trophies. The purity of the fights was monitored by a panel of judges consisting of 13 people.

Meanwhile, on October 10, the All-Russian boxing competition (6+) among girls 15-16 years old and juniors 17-18 years old will start in the Moscow region. Chukotka will be represented by Polina Chernitskaya and Natalya Rochchituvier. They are accompanied by a representative trainer – Balkozha Baytleuov. In total, 266 athletes from 43 regions of the country will take part in the competition.
