Chukotka athlete, international master of sports in boxing among women, champion of Russia, European champion Maria Urakova will represent the district at the Russian Boxing Championship among women, which will be held in Krasnodar from October 16 to October 22, 2022.
More than 200 athletes from 50 regions of the Russian Federation will take part in the competition. The championship will be held in 12 weight categories. Maria Urakova represents the weight category up to 81 kg.
Maria has been boxing since the age of 18. In 2018, in the city of Ulan-Ude, she won the Russian Championship. At the European Championships in 2018, Urakova won all the fights and won the title of European champion. In the same year, Maria was awarded the sports title Master of Sports in international boxing. She is the most titled athlete in Chukotka.
“At the moment, Maria went through a training camp in Moscow before the competition, where she had good pre-competition sparring. Masha is a strong athlete, we believe in her and expect good results, we hope to get to the final, ”says Dmitry Kozhukh, President of the Boxing Federation in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
The grand opening of the competition will take place on October 16. The prize fund of the Championship is 24 million rubles. The winners will receive 1.5 million rubles each, silver medalists – 250 thousand rubles each, bronze medalists – 125 thousand rubles each.
