Chinese Foreign Ministry urged not to interfere in relations between Beijing and Moscow

No state has the right to interfere in relations between Russia and China, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, commenting on the speech of US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen at Johns Hopkins University, transmits TASS.

“China and Russia have always adhered to the principles of non-alignment, non-confrontation and non-targeting of third parties, we have developed a new type of relationship between major powers based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation. No foreign state has the right to interfere [в отношения КНР и РФ],” the Chinese diplomat said at the briefing.

He stressed that China has always taken a fair and objective position on Ukraine and promoted the idea of ​​peace negotiations. “This is in sharp contrast to the practice of a number of countries that apply double standards and continue to add fuel to the fire,” Wang said.

The diplomat added that the Chinese side called on the United States to “take a responsible stance, stop actions that could lead to an escalation of tensions, and work together with the international community to make efforts to resolve the crisis politically.”

A day earlier, Yellen, speaking at Johns Hopkins University, statedthat China’s “limitless partnership and support” for Russia is a worrying sign that Beijing is not serious about ending the conflict in Ukraine. “It is necessary that China and other countries do not provide Russia with material support or assistance in circumventing sanctions. We will continue to make the US position very clear to Beijing and companies under its jurisdiction that the consequences of any violations will be severe,” she said.

In December last year, the head of the office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCP), former Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi named China’s relations with Russia are as strong as a monolith. According to him, cooperation between the PRC and the Russian Federation is not antagonistic and is not aimed at any third party, and Moscow and Beijing “firmly oppose hegemony and oppose the new cold war.”

In February of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Wang Yi named Chinese President Xi Jinping as a friend.
