Chinese Foreign Minister calls US the biggest source of instability in the world

The United States is the main source of instability in the world today, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. transmits South China Morning Post.

According to him, the United States, which seeks to maintain its hegemony in a unipolar world, does not want the development of China and other countries. Washington, Wang Yi added, is pandering to pro-Taiwan independence forces and undermining fair competition by forcing other countries to impose trade restrictions against China.

“This vicious practice only undermines its own credibility, showing that the United States has become the biggest destabilizing factor in the world,” the diplomat said.

China’s development will benefit all countries in the long run, especially its neighbors, he added.

Earlier on August 10, US President Joe Biden signed a decree restricting direct investment in Chinese companies involved in sensitive technology critical to national security in three sectors. These are semiconductors and microelectronics, quantum information technologies and artificial intelligence.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed dissatisfaction with Biden’s decree, urging the United States to stop politicizing and weaponizing economic, trade and technological issues.

Wang Yi, who served as head of the office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, again headed Chinese Foreign Ministry after his predecessor Qin Gang was removed from office. This appointment follows Qin Gang’s long absence from public view. Previously, Wang Yi headed the Foreign Ministry from 2013-2022.
